Self-care is essential for our well-being. As humans, we need breaks; we are not robots. Just as we cannot drive a car for extended periods without risking engine damage or overheating, we cannot constantly be "on the go" without experiencing exhaustion and long-term health consequences.
While cars have fuel gauges and phones display battery levels, we humans lack a visual indicator of our energy reserves. Therefore, it's crucial to check in with ourselves regarding three types of "batteries": physical, emotional/mental, and social. These are interconnected. When your physical battery is low, it can negatively impact your emotional/mental and social batteries. Be mindful of the levels of all three.
Recharging these batteries varies from person to person. For example, I might replenish my emotional/mental battery by going for a walk or spending time with my dog. I might recharge my physical or social battery by taking a nap. This also relates to boundaries. For example, if I am burnt out from work and someone asked me to cover their shift, I may say no and that's okay.
If you require additional support in exploring and recharging your batteries and reside in Massachusetts, Michigan, or Maine, please feel free to schedule a 15-minute consultation.
